Avenged Sevenfold announces NEW drummer - Recap

Avenged Sevenfold, originally uploaded by Yaghyah.

We all thought their latest album was the best work yet, a tribute to "The Rev" and clearly something WORTH listening to. After the sudden death of Jimmy Sulivan, the band were hard at work searching for a replacement.

A year of searching passed & finally they found the suitable candidate: Alrin Ilejay (okay i dunno who he is really....)

Well this decision was made a few months ago and it seems that they are making a good team since they gave Ilejay a chance to tour with them. So it seems like a fantastic NEW sound with the new addition, & it will be for years to come.

Below: A post dated a few months back, announcing the addition to the band. (January 2011 - Bloginity)

After the untimely passing of original Avenged Sevenfold drummer Jimmy “ The Rev” Sullivan, Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater stepped
into the massive void. However,
Portnoy’ s stint with the band was not a permanent one, and Avenged
Sevenfold has been eagerly
searching for a new drummer.

It
seems the search has come to an
end, as the band announced Arin
Ilejay would be the new Avenged Sevenfold drummer .

“ We’ ve rehearsed with Arin and have been impressed with his
technical skills, attitude and work
ethic,”

explained Avenged Sevenfold in a statement.

“ We’ re very excited to tour with Arin and
hope all of you will give him the
warm welcome to the family we
have.”

According to Avenged Sevenfold,
they were looking for someone who
had a style similar to Jimmy’ s. Although The Rev can never be
replaced, the band felt that Ilejay
would come closest to continuing
Jimmy’ s legacy.

“ We recently asked several friends who knew Jimmy and his style,
and also knew our music and each
of our personalities to suggest
drummers to tour with us starting
this year,”

Avenged Sevenfold explained. “ Our long time studio drum tech, Mike Fasano,
recommended Arin Ilejay. ”

So far the Reviews about Ilejay's skill have been nothing but positive. Lets hope it stays this way.
